Über das Reiseziel: Bordeaux is an exhilarating and sprawling city where wine still flows and churches still stand. Attractive shopping arcades and handsome 18th century riverfront facades decorate its streets. This city is a paradise for wine lovers and it’s a perfect choice for a romantic gateway. Perhaps the most remarkable feature of the Cathédrale St-André is the wide variety of flying buttresses that encircle it. To the right of the main portico is a 16th century buttress composed off a string of slender columns. Adjacent to the Church of St-Michel is the equally beautiful, free-standing bell tower, an imposing and hollow shell. If you ever wondered what Flamboyant Gothic was all about, these edifices provide an unsurpassed definition of that style. Also not to be missed is Bordeaux’s Romanesque representative, the Church of Ste-Croix, with its richly ornamented façade. And of course you cannot leave Bordeaux without visiting the Maison du Vin that offers free tastings of regional wines. The city is also within striking distance of the sublime, immensely enjoyable Dune du Pilat, a gargantuan mountain of silken sand that seems to bring out the acrobat in everyone.

Über das Reiseziel: Biarritz is a famous holiday destination located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department of Aquitaine, France. Biarritz lies on the Bay of Biscay, on the Atlantic coast, in southwestern France. It is adjacent to Bayonne and Anglet and 18 km from the border with Spain. Biarritz has 6 km of beaches and is a popular summer holiday destination. Its beaches are characterized by fine sand and large amounts of seaweed. The seaweed adds iodine to the water which is known to have beneficial effects on the body. These healthy properties of the water are the reason for the popularity of resorts in Biarritz. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS La Grande Plage The Grande Plage is the main beach of the town, popular among tourists and locals alike. It was previously known as the “Côte des Fous” (coast of the crazy), because of the large number of “sick” people who came for the benefits of the waters. It is located in the heart of Biarritz, close to shopping areas, bars and restaurants. The Rock of the Virgin The Rock of the Virgin is connected to the mainland via a bridge that was commissioned by Napoleon III. The bridge crosses over the water and partly through the rock that was carved out. The bridge is known as the Eiffel Bridge, named after the architect Gustave Eiffel, the same man who built the Eiffel Tower. From the end of the rock, you can enjoy some of the best views of Biarritz. On a clear day, you can even see mountains of the Spanish Basque Country. Fishermen Port This port was built in 1870 for inshore fishermen. Today, most of the fishermen are gone and what is left is a cute little port mainly visited by tourists. There are a bunch of restaurants located in the picturesque fishermen’s houses. If you want to eat fresh fish or seafood, this is definitely the best place to do it.

Über das Reiseziel: Roses is a municipality located on the Costa Brava, in Catalonia, situated on the coast at the northern end of the Gulf of Roses, and is an important fishing port and tourist center. This town in the province of Girona offers a multitude of beaches and coves among rocky cliffs, where visitors can practice a great variety of water sports in the Mediterranean Sea as well as walking in the nearby Aiguamolls de l´Empordá and in the natural parks of Cap de Creu. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS Citadel of Roses Located beside the bay of the same name, the citadel of Roses is an imposing military fortification which contains on its interior a succession of the ancient settlements to which Roses was home in the past. The fortress is a Renaissance work dating from the middle of 16th century, which was reformed both for the purpose of extending and reinforcing it in the two subsequent centuries on the orders of King Charles I of Spain. It is a star-shaped pentagonal walled enclosure with triangular bastions reinforced at the points, built using a system of banks, and has two main gateways to the Sea and Land gateways. Cap de Creus Natural Park In the north of the Costa Brava you’ll find the Cap de Creus Natural Park that contains a wild coastline with its vertiginous cliffs and hidden coves, and with islets scattered all along it and a capriciously shaped rocks, sculpted by the wind and the erosion of the sea. It is a biological paradise of forests and meadows that you can explore on endless excursions, stopping off in the peaceful town of Llançà. The City Center Stroll along the narrow, uneven, streets in the center round the church. They all run parallel to the sea and are full of restaurants and small shops where you can enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere. In the Plaça de Catalunya you will find examples of Modernist architecture, like the Casa Mallol, which is the present town Hall. Between Trinitat and Escorxadors streets you will find Plaça de la Pau, which is dedicated to the historical memory of the spanish Civil War. The remodelling of the area, which consists of a sculpture by artist Ció Abellí, was inaugurated in 2006. The sculpture reflects on the irrationality of war and the value of life.

Über das Reiseziel: At the heart of the South, Toulouse has always occupied a prominent place in the Southwest of France. The reflections of golden light on the pink-brick walls, used in many of its buildings, have earned the city the designation of 'La Ville Rose', the Pink City. As the region’s largest city, Toulouse combines medieval architecture with bohemian music, delicious food and constant innovation, sustained by the city’s cutting-edge aerospace industry. The old town of Toulouse hides great treasures. The Basilica of St. Sernin is considered the city’s most beautiful religious monument. It is also the world’s largest church built in the Romanesque style. Feel free to wander through its cobbled streets to discover its splendid Renaissance courtyards and magnificent houses that hide behind the heavy gates. The Augustinian Museum exhibits a rich collection of paintings and sculptures. Here you will find works of either medieval masters or contemporary artists and painters. Toulouse is active and bustling, fuelled by the energy of its student population. There’s nothing like strolling through the historical center, walking along the banks of the Garonne and the Canal du Midi, or stopping in one of the many bars and restaurants to eat or have a drink under the open sky.
